Meanwhile, The CIO and C-Suite Club Africa honoured technology leaders in recognition of their crucial role in advancing technological excellence across the continent and shaping digital transformation landscape.
The CIO Club Africa stands as a premier community for chief information officers and technology leaders throughout the African continent and committed to fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development among members.
Speaking at the CIO & C-Suite Conference & Awards Africa 2025’, themed: ‘The Digital Tax Shift,’ held in Lagos, the Convener, Abiola Laseinde, said the awards were created to spotlight technology leaders who have long worked behind the scenes.
She said the idea was conceived during the pandemic to spotlight leaders who are going beyond the call of duty, saying “some of them lost their lives. They left us in the comfort of our home within the security that we enjoy and they had to go to deploy IT infrastructure physically and they were not even recognised.
Laseinde said: “Their families buried them like the normal COVID pandemic victims. But I woke up one day and I felt that compelling vision that Nigeria should not just ignore these heroes, our technology digital transformation heroes, we need to celebrate them and we had that first edition.
“The second reason is because of our young talent, everybody wants to Japa because you don’t see your hero being celebrated. So it was also to motivate those who are working tirelessly behind the scenes for them to also aspire to become a player on the global stage.
